FictionHoney Cake
Ingredients:
250g wildflower honey
115g unsalted butter, softened
3 large eggs, room temperature
190g cake flour
5g baking soda
2g salt
Instructions:
1. Cream butter and honey until pale.
2. Incorporate eggs one at a time.
3. Sift flour, soda, and salt; fold into the wet mixture.
4. Bake at 160C for 35 minutes.

Marginal Note (June 12): Used a superficial sadness. Cake slumped in the center. Tasted of copper and wet wool.

Rye Loaf
Ingredients:
400g dark rye flour
100g strong bread flour
320ml warm water (38C)
12g sea salt
80g active sourdough starter
Instructions:
1. Combine flours and salt.
2. Mix in starter and water until a shaggy dough forms.
3. Bulk ferment for 6 hours at 24C.
4. Shape into a boule.
5. Bake at 230C for 40 minutes with steam.
Requirement: Deep nostalgia for a specific, lost period of the baker's life. The memory must be vivid enough to evoke a physical sensation of longing.
Marginal Note (October 4): Attempted to conjure a childhood summer. Bread rose correctly, but the crumb is excessively dense. The memory was likely too faded for the gluten to bond.

Seed Bread
Ingredients:
500g whole wheat flour
60g toasted pumpkin seeds
40g flax seeds
10g salt
350ml filtered water
100g active sourdough starter
Instructions:
1. Combine seeds and flour.
2. Mix water, salt, and starter; combine with dry ingredients.
3. Perform four sets of stretch-and-folds at 30 minute intervals.
4. Proof for 12 hours in refrigeration.
5. Bake at 220C for 30 minutes.
Requirement: Sincere forgiveness of a perceived wrong. The act of forgiveness must be completed before the dough is shaped.
Marginal Note (December 20): Forgave the sister. Crust is golden and thin. Warning: if resentment remains, the loaf will not break; it will shatter like porcelain under the knife.
