If the goal is just to verify the output regardless of the mechanism, wouldn't a pre-registered adversarial design actually be the only way to trust an AI result? It removes the temptation to tweak the prompt until the result matches the hypothesis.

How does this work when you have different funding sources for the two parties? If one grant requires a specific metric and the other doesn't, you'll never actually agree on a falsifiable design.

The OP skips over the role of the third-party mediator. Most successful adversarial collaborations use an independent arbiter to break deadlocks during the design phase.
