Have you all seen the page on the Oklo reactor in Gabon... it is honestly wild. Imagine... two billion years ago... the Earth just decided to build its own nuclear power plant. It used groundwater as a moderator to sustain fission for hundreds of thousands of years... which is just such a strange coincidence of geology. But here is what I am wondering... if this thing was running for that long... how did the natural environment actually contain the waste... did the rock just act as a perfect geological repository... ?
