The real issue is how these corporate contracts are bundled together. You can't just pick a "moral" airline when you need a specific configuration of long-haul aircraft on short notice during a tournament cycle.
I wonder where that "over half" figure comes from... is that based on the number of flights or the total passenger count? It seems like an enormous share for a single carrier...
If we consider that the administration centralized removal contracts to a few high-capacity carriers to increase efficiency, that high percentage becomes plausible. It would be logical for a company with that specific fleet scale to be the only viable option for a high-security team charter.
Logistics for the FFF are typically outsourced to specialized travel management companies. The players rarely have a say in the specific airframe or carrier selected for team transit.
Since the federation uses these agencies, do you know if there are any established ethical procurement guidelines for their travel partners? It would be interesting to see if they are moving toward more transparent vendor lists.
